The reason I've been noticing this trend lately is because I have a little brother and I know for a fact that I wouldn't want him reading a lot of the stuff on the YA shelf - it's not appropriate, even if he IS in the YA age range. It's suited for me - but I'm an adult, so what does that say about the content? i just an interesting thought - I'll read anything YA.Summer Lanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09880474107683813163noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5083019207059921319.post-91331095170928167462013-01-23T09:14:47.464-08:002013-01-23T09:14:47.464-08:00I agree. But it's a wide genre and I also have difficulty as a new writer knowing what's YA, NA and even MG. I just write the story and let the reader decide - I steer clear of explicit scenes though - it would be too embarrassing knowing my kids would read it :0) Mind you, I don't think I could write one anyway!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5083019207059921319.post-83403430363818435492013-01-23T08:58:59.721-08:002013-01-23T08:58:59.721-08:00I almost feel like YA is becoming NA, in some case...I almost feel like YA is becoming NA, in some cases. The two categories are kind of blurring together when they should be totally separate. As an author, I have difficulty finding the line between what's appropriate and what isn't in YA fiction. Jade Vardenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10684439238295775063noreply@blogger.com
