The Forever Girl: Sophia's Journey (New Adult Book!)

Sophia, Sophia, Sophia....she always seems to be getting into trouble or getting caught in the middle of a terrible situation. Like murder. In fact, all of the locals are convinced that she's some kind of freaky witch with evil powers. Who knows? Maybe all recent college graduates are viewed this way for a while. But for Sophia, things start to spiral out of control when she is nearly kidnapped by supernatural beings...and then rescued by some, too. And ONE of those supernatural beings just happens to be named Charles. And Charles also just happens to be the man of Sophia's dreams. As the story unfolds, Strigoi, vampires, shapeshifters, witches, you-name-it are all trying to kill Sophia, who, as it turns out, might just be a very powerful witch herself. For real.

Why did I read this book? Two words, people: NEW ADULT. I conducted an interview with Rebecca for the blog that my NA Sisters and I run, NA Alley.  I'd heard that she wrote New Adult lit, which for all those wondering, is a category sorely overlooked that features protagonists ages 18 to 29. In other words, AFTER high school, but not quite all the way into adulthood. I was entertained by the book. I love magic (I'm a Harry Potter NUT!), and I also love mysteries and handsome dudes who are actually hundreds of years old. Talk about your older man. The only thing that I can say in the negative (I can't say much!) is that I did not appreciate the derogatory way in which Christianity was portrayed. That repeatedly bugged me throughout the book.
But this was a really fun New Adult read for a fantastic price of 99 cents!!! My interview with the lovely Rebecca was posted at NA Alley on May 31st, for anybody who's curious as to what she had to say!

  1. I have this one on my kindle waiting to be read :) Thanks for talking about the Christianity thing. I was worried about that because I heard the protagonist is a Wiccan. Now I know what to expect. Great review sista!

    1. The book was super fun to read....the Christianity thing just kept popping up in places throughout the book, so I just skipped past it, lol.

  4. I read this a few months ago and loved it!

Thanks for introducing me to a new (new to me anyway) literary term in this post in the New Adult category. I've never head the phrase New Adult books until now.
