Sometimes, You Just Need a Good Zombie Story: Joseph DiBartolo, Post-Ap Author

Sometimes, we just need a good zombie story. Nobody knows this better than an author of horror, and Joseph DiBartolo is an expert on the subject. He has penned a collection of short stories set within the zombie apocalypse, The Rise of Peter Troy Series. If you're like me, you just can't get enough of a good zombie story (hello, Walking Dead!). And if zombies aren't your thing, the story world of the apocalypse will definitely suck you in.

Joseph took a couple of minutes to visit here today and answered a few quick-fire questions about his books, and about horror fiction in general.

Hi Joseph! Thank you for joining us here today. What is your favorite part of Halloween?
For that one day (month), I get to act like a kid again.  Plus, nothing but horror movies on T.V. all month long.

Tell us about The Rise of Peter Troy Series.
The Rise of Peter Troy series is about a young man who has been on the losing end of life. Peter's lady breaks it off with him, legal issues, and a mountain of debt have made it a struggle.  His only joy in life was zombie films.  His unhealthy obsession, according to his now ex-girlfriend, was a waste of time.  But boy was she wrong.  When disaster strikes, Peter is put to the test and uses his knowledge from television and film to help himself and many others.

How did you decide that zombies were going to be a part of your story?
I've always wanted to tell my own zombie story and put my own little twist on it.

What, in your opinion, is the key to writing a good apocalyptic story?
Colorful characters and total chaos.

Are there any authors in particular who inspire you to write?
I have many that I admire. George R.R. Martin, Dean Koontz, James Patterson, Jim Butcher, and Stephen King just to name a handful.

What is the secret to writing a good, terrifying zombie scene?
Detail and fast-paced action.

Who is your favorite character to write about?
In this series Peter is my favorite, but Lena and Jim are quickly catching up. (You'll see why ;))

Any upcoming projects or releases?
Currently working on Peter Troy volume 4 and another side project as well.

  2. This was great Summer Lane. Yes Joseph, that series is fantastic. Do you interview other horror others too? I published a horror occult back in January that's on Amazon. Joseph read it too and can vouch for me.

Yes, I interview horror authors. I depends on the content of the book when it comes to whether or not I will be able to feature it. Visit the "Get Featured on Writing Belle" tab to snag my email and shoot me your book. I'll take a look at it! :)
