Title: Resurrection: Shadows of Omega
Series: Resurrection #1
Genre: Post-Apocalyptic Thriller/Survival
Author: Summer Lane
Release Date: January 26, 2018
(also holla to my friend Steven Catizone for always collaborating with me and creating amazing covers for Cassidy Hart!)

Synopsis

The war is over. At last, Omega has been defeated, and the militias have found peace and stability. General Cassidy Hart has been elected to lead the newly resurrected post-apocalyptic government as President of the Western Republic.
The world is a different place. From the ashes, structure emerges. From death, hope blossoms.

Yet the shadows of Omega remain. Omega loyalists and dangerous anarchists infect every level of the crestfallen civilization, threatening to undermine the Republic’s attempts to maintain peace. Most of the world’s population has been slain: those who remain alive have very different ideas about what must be done to continue to survive.

A seasoned war veteran, sniper, and leader, Cassidy resents the stifling role of presidential leadership. General Chris Young, her former fiancé, leads the United Militia’s military as it rebuilds. Her comrades from war have scattered, and the one person who understands her, truly and completely, has disappeared.

When a new threat emerges, one that could undo everything they have fought for, Cassidy is forced to make hard decisions and ask for help in places where she never imagined she could.

The old is gone. The new has come.
Welcome to the Hart Presidency. Welcome to the Western Republic.
The Resurrection has begun.

ARE YOU READY?
The honest truth is that I've had the story line of Cassidy Hart in my head since I was about 13 years-old. I wrote a series of books using a stack of wide-ruled notebooks. The main character's name was "Cadey," and she was a young woman who went from being an average survivor to a senator, and then a president. Granted, the original setting of this novel was in space, because it was science fiction (I was 13, and I didn't know how to set such a story on earth - that was before the idea of a post-apocalyptic tale sprang into my head). The general idea was there, however, and it was a strong seed of inspiration.

Over the years, I rewrote that same type of story over and over again - Cassidy had many names before she finally evolved into what she is now. In essence, Cassidy has been a work in progress for 11 years. The last five have shaped and molded her character ( and myself! ), and I think the next few years will continue to grow her, too.

This series - the story of the resurrection of a fallen society and the fight of survivors to keep the enemy from rising again - is the culmination, I believe, of my career as a writer. It's a test of not just myself, but the test of the lasting power of my characters. I am not the kind of author who writes a story just for kicks. I'm the kind of author who writes a story because it's fiercely clawing its way out of me, and because it's real, raw, gritty, and completely necessary to the development of the character that I'm writing about. These types of stories are the ones I can't possibly keep to myself. They're the ones that are extremely special. They're the ones that readers really love to read about.

Cassidy Hart is my hero. I've said that many times over the years, because it's such a pure and true statement. Cassidy does the right thing. She stands up for herself and for the people she loves. She's learned to  never back down and never take crap from anyone. She's fierce and fun and tough and admirable. I love her - and this new series is going to be one heck of a rockin' rollercoaster thrill ride. I cannot wait to share it with you in January 2018.

BUT STAY TUNED.

I have some surprises in store. If you're a fan of the Collapse Series, Cassidy Hart, Uriah True, or any other of the major characters in the Collapse universe, I have something fun and unexpected lurking just around the corner.

Keep checking back on Writing Belle until the end of the year. Keep an eye on your email inboxes (if you're subscribed through my website!). Watch Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

I have something really cool coming up. You won't want to miss it.
It's totally top secret, and I promise you'll be surprised!!

Until next time....THANK YOU for your readership, and I can't wait to launch Resurrection: Shadows of Omega!

  1. I am an avid fan of the collapse series. The love between Chris and Cassidy was such a big part of what I loved about the series. I am having a hard time accepting the possibility that Uriah could replace Chris. I will continue reading the series ,but,I am sad. You might say I am in a " State of Shock".
